Natural and legal persons from the Republic of Moldova have the right to freely choose the state in which they wish to file a patent application for the first time.
The applicant may request other UPOV member states to grant protection for the plant variety, without having to wait for the authority of the state in which the first application was filed to grant protection for the respective variety.
National applicants who wish to obtain protection for a plant variety abroad, as well as foreign applicants who wish to obtain protection for a plant variety in the Republic of Moldova, may use, for the purpose of filing the application for protection in the respective country, an online filing tool, made available to the public by UPOV within the framework of a Project for the Development of the Electronic Application Form, for which the name UPOV PRISMA has been approved.
The UPOV PRISMA service provides for the use of a multilingual online form for the application for protection of a plant variety, available on the UPOV website in the four official languages of UPOV (English, French, German and Spanish), which could be provided to the Offices granting protection to plant varieties in the states participating in the project, with its generation in the language and format requested by the authority in the respective country.
