The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), in common with the EU Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova, organizes from 8 to 12 October 2018 the training course “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova. Practical Aspects” for judges and prosecutors trained in the continuous training process carried out by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).

The training course aims at enhancing the knowledge of representatives from the justice sector of the Republic of Moldova on the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the context of examination of intellectual property disputes.

In the opening, AGEPI Deputy Director General Andrei Popa mentioned that training persons from the judiciary system in the field of intellectual property is extremely important for the proper examination of disputes related to this area.

The Head of the EU Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova Maximilian Foedinger, welcomed the presence of judges and prosecutors at the seminar, noting that this course will enrich the practices of participants in the application of intellectual property rights in the courts of the Republic of Moldova.

The course deals with the national and international regulations in the field, the basic principles of intellectual property, its role and its essence in the legal relations, the forms and limits of protection of intellectual property objects, the system of rights that it generates, as well as the practical aspects on the settlement of disputes concerning intellectual property rights.

This course is part of the list of joint activities planned by AGEPI and NIJ, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed on April 12, 2013, which stipulates for the promotion of knowledge about the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights among employees in the justice sector of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, within the activities stipulated in the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two institutions organize annually training seminars in the field, including by inviting experts and specialists from abroad.
