Pupils of the Theoretical Lyceum “Andrei Vartic” of Ialoveni were familiarized with the field of intellectual property. In the context of the International Book and Copyright Day, traditionally marked on April 23, they were visited by the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova, Eugeniu Rusu.
During the open lesson presented by the manager of the institution, pupils assimilated general aspects of intellectual property rights (IP) and their role in the development of a sustainable society, learned about the IP objects, the need, advantages and methods of their protection, the phenomena of counterfeiting, piracy, plagiarism and their negative effects. Particular attention was paid to copyright and related rights, the importance of books for humanity and the economy, the creative industries, and how to make a profit from protecting works.
“The most effective way to combat copyright infringement is through training. Aware of the disastrous consequences of piracy, counterfeiting, people will cease or at least significantly reduce these reprehensible actions. For this reason, AGEPI is constantly anchored in organizing numerous trainings and seminars in the field of IP. In particular, school training is essential, as young people are the future. It was an interactive lesson, in which I admired the pupils’ interest”, said the director of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, Eugeniu Rusu.
At the end of the lesson, the pupils and teachers present received sets of information materials from AGEPI, and the Lyceum library was supplemented with several books in the field of intellectual property.
