The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) invites interested parties to participate in the launch of the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025, which will take place both online and in person at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
The Global Innovation Index 2025, entitled “Innovation at a Crossroads: Charting the Future”, assesses the innovation performance of approximately 140 countries and the top 100 innovation clusters, identifying strengths, weaknesses and data gaps.
The GII offers a unique perspective on the current state of global innovation, in a context marked by geopolitical realignments, sluggish economic growth of the leading multinationals, technological breakthroughs and evolving regulatory landscapes which shape ideas emerge, spread, and scale globally.
Published annually by WIPO, in partnership with the Portulans Institute, the GII is recognized by the UN General Assembly as a reference tool for measuring innovative performance in the context of science, technology and innovation policies for sustainable development.
