The Winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People Were Designated

The winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People, organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) and the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA), were designated.

This year, 53 participants applied to the Contest, 51 of them being accepted for the second stage of the Contest. At this stage, 16 participants answered the questions proposed by the organizers, all accumulating the necessary points to be admitted to the next stage.

In the final stage of the Contest, the students prepared a paper on one of the themes proposed by AGEPI, which they presented during the summation meeting of the Organizing Committee, which took place on December 12 and 13, in online format. Thus, in the third stage of the contest, 10 papers were received.

After the online presentation of the papers, the jury members decided on who are the winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People.

Thus, 1st ranked Ciuranu Mihaela, 10th grade pupil at “Regina Mari” National Pedagogical College, Ploiesti, Prahova, Romania. In the final stage, Mihaela addressed the theme: “Young Inventors and Innovators Who Changed the World”.

Second ranked Banu Valeria, 9th grade pupil at “Mihai Eminescu” Theoretical Lyceum, Sudarca village, Donduseni district. Valeria made a presentation with the title: “Plagiarism in the Age of the Internet: Methods of Preventing and Combating”.

Dron Ariadna, 12th grade pupil at “Mihai Eminescu” Theoretical Lyceum, Sudarca village, Donduseni district, ranked third. She addressed the topic of “Kids-Young Inventors Who Changed the World”.

Competitors received from AGEPI gift certificates for the purchase of electronic products and gadgets, as well as participation diplomas and promotional materials.

Traditionally, the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova came with monetary prizes for all participants of the final stage of the Contest.

The representatives of the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks offered a special prize for originality to Dana Cojuhari, 11th grade pupil at “Alexei Mateevici” College in Chisinau, for her original approach to the theme: “Kids and Young People Who Changed the World”, composing and reciting a poem with the same title.

Having reached its 6th edition, the Contest was traditionally launched on April 26, on the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day, whose generic theme proclaimed by the World Intellectual Property Organization for the year 2022 was “Intellectual Property and Youth - Innovating for a Better Future”.

The purpose of the competition is promoting the intellectual property system, raising awareness among young people about the phenomena of counterfeiting and piracy, developing young people’s knowledge and abilities in the field of IP, as well as their skills and competitive spirit, creating a communication environment between young people passionate about the field intellectual property and fostering the exchange of views and experience.
