Visit of TUM Students to AGEPI

11/20/2025

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) hosted on November 19, this year, a study visit of a group of four-year students from the Industrial Design Program within the Design Department of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM). The students were given a detailed perspective on the national intellectual property protection system and its importance in the innovation process was explained to them.

A welcoming speech was delivered to the students by the Director General of AGEPI, Eugeniu Rusu, who emphasized the importance of knowing the aspects related to intellectual property, the protection and enforcement of IP rights, mentioning the tools for promoting industrial designs, inventions, subject-matters protected by copyright and related rights, as well as other intellectual property objects. At the same time, the Director General of AGEPI highlighted the role of young designers and inventors in strengthening an economic environment based on innovation and creativity, such as the opportunity they have to find an internship, a paid internship program or a job within AGEPI.

During the meeting, specialists from the Industrial Designs Section of the Trademarks and Industrial Design Directorate, as well as from the Patents Directorate, explained to the participants in the event the process of registering and protecting industrial designs and inventions, emphasizing their importance for creative and technological development. Students had the opportunity to address questions to experts and participate in discussions on the ways in which intellectual property contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the creative industry and supporting innovation on the local and international market. The event was appreciated by the students, who expressed their interest in participating in other similar activities organized by AGEPI in the future.

Such visits and exchanges of experience are part of AGEPI’s ongoing efforts to promote and disseminate information about intellectual property, contributing to increasing awareness and respect for intellectual property rights. The Agency aims to continue cooperating with higher education institutions to ensure that future generations of specialists are well informed and prepared to face the challenges in the field of industrial design and innovation.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that, in March 2009, AGEPI and TUM concluded a Cooperation Agreement in the field of intellectual property, which provides for the promotion of IP by involving the most qualified specialists in the field in the process of training and improvement of professional skills of TUM teaching staff and students.
