Approximately 70 doctoral candidates, students and professors from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” participated in a training seminar entitled “The Role of Patenting Inventions and Patent Information in Modern Society”, organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), on 27 and 28 February this year. The seminar aimed to familiarize participants with the national system of intellectual property protection.
During the seminar, AGEPI specialists presented the normative-legislative framework in the field of protection of intellectual property in the Republic of Moldova, especially of inventions, intellectual property as a tool for using research results, innovation and intellectual property management within Universities, and the “Patent Landscape” platform, created and managed by AGEPI.
The participants in the seminar were active in debates and discussions on the hearings, being particularly interested in the protection of medicinal products, the procedure provided by the legislation in the field of protection of inventions in the Republic of Moldova, the rights granted by the patent for invention, etc.
The conduct of knowledge dissemination activities on the need for protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights is part of the process of training students and doctoral candidates in the field of intellectual property, being the main objective of the Cooperation Agreement between AGEPI and SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu”, signed in 2009.
