Science for and with Society - Celebrating Together the World Science Day for Peace and Development 2020

The scientific community of the Republic of Moldova annually celebrates Science Day on November 10.

Established in the Republic of Moldova by Government Decision, this holiday is organized in the context of the World Science Day for Peace and Development, proclaimed by UNESCO on November 2, 2001.

This event aims to highlight the significant role of science in the sustainable development of society as a whole, to promote national and international solidarity and to draw attention to the challenges faced by the given field.

The 2020 theme for the World Science Day for Peace and Development is “Science for and with Society”. To celebrate this day, UNESCO is organizing an online roundtable on 10 November 2020 entitled “Science for and with Society in dealing with COVID-19”.

To mark this important day, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova organizes a solemn online meeting of the General Assembly of the ASM, during which the ceremony of awarding the Prizes of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for valuable results obtained in the field of social, economic sciences, humanities and arts, as well as for the promotion of science in the media will take place.

Science Day is an additional opportunity to express our full admiration and appreciation for the effort made by each researcher in the Republic of Moldova to develop national science and innovation and its integration into the international research space.

On this occasion, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) sincerely congratulates and wishes health, inspiration and success to all those dedicated to technological progress, scientific research, the noble work of finding new solutions to the challenges faced by humanity in current time.
