Pupils from the TUM College, on a Study Visit to AGEPI

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) hosted on February 17 a study visit for 4th-year pupils, specializing in Materials Processing Technology, from the College of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM). The purpose of the visit was to deepen the pupils’ knowledge in the field of intellectual property (IP) protection and to inform about its importance in the innovation process.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech from the Director General of AGEPI, who highlighted the role of intellectual property in the economic, social and cultural development of the country, the value of developing skills in the field of innovation, as well as the importance of protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights.

During the meeting with the pupilts, Mr. Andrei MOISEI, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division, spoke about the general aspects that determine the need to protect IP objects, the tools for promoting trademarks, inventions, innovations, industrial designs, as well as about objects protected by copyright.

Mr. Viorel IUSTIN, head, Patents Department and Mr. Leonid SPĂTARU, senior specialist, Examination Division of the same department, provided useful information on patents, such as the types, functions and means of protection of patents, explained the method of document retrieval in national and international databases, as well as the inventions registration and protection process, emphasizing their importance for creative and technological development.

Afterwards, the pupils visited the Patent Department, the library, the call center and the office’s office, where AGEPI specialists spoke to them about the procedures for registration of intellectual property objects, including some aspects of the process of examining patent applications.

Finally, the pupils were satisfied with the event and the knowledge gained during the visit, emphasizing the importance of the information obtained for their future work.

Such visits and exchanges of experience are part of AGEPI’s ongoing efforts to promote and disseminate information about intellectual property, contributing to raising awareness and increasing the level of awareness of the younger generation of the role of intellectual property.

We remind you that, in March 2009, AGEPI and TUM concluded a Cooperation Agreement in the field of intellectual property that provides for the promotion of IP by involving the most qualified specialists in the field in the process of training and improvement of teaching staff and students at TUM.
