Online Meeting of Authorized Attorneys in Intellectual Property, organized by AGEPI


The authorized attorneys in intellectual property met on December 4 in an online meeting organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The event aimed to discuss about the evolution of national and international systems of intellectual property protection, as well as the current situation of the system of authorized attorneys in the Republic of Moldova.

In the opening of the event, Viorel Iustin, Director General of AGEPI, mentioned the importance of developing the system of authorized attorneys of our country, as well as stressed the importance of intense collaboration between AGEPI specialists and authorized attorneys.

Information on the modification of the regulatory framework in the field of intellectual property, on the procedure for examining three-dimensional signs, on the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Information Platform and on the development of the online application submission system through the electronic e-agepi service was presented during the meeting. Proposals have also been submitted to supplement the Guide to the Examination of Trademark Registration Applications.

At the same time, it was discussed the need to evaluate the implementation of the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the Authorized Attorneys in Intellectual Property through the questionnaire, which will be sent to attorneys for completion, including the collaboration mechanism between AGEPI and authorized attorneys.

Currently, 161 authorized attorneys are registered in the National Register of Authorized Attorneys in Intellectual Property.

The professional activity of authorized attorneys consists in representing natural and legal persons under the conditions provided for in the mandate contract or another contract with an analogous content and/or legal representation power of attorney and in providing them with the necessary assistance in the field of protection of intellectual property objects (trademarks, inventions, industrial designs, plant varieties, topographies of integrated circuits, appellations of origin, geographical indications, traditional specialties guaranteed).
