The fifth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”, financed by the European Union, was held on 20 March  this year, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The main purpose of the project is to improve the application of the legislation on the enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The meeting was chaired by Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, as the main beneficiary of the project. The event was attended by representatives of the co-beneficiary authorities of the project, namely: the General Police Inspectorate, the Customs Service, Prosecutor General’s Office, Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, Agency for Court Administration, as well as the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova. Representatives of the Project Implementation Consortium, the company Archidata and the team of experts responsible for project implementation, led by Maximilian Foedinger, project leader, were also present at the meeting.

Subsequently, the experts discussed about the activities carried out during the third stage of the project implementation, in terms of creation and priorities for the next quarter, with reference to:

• Elaboration and implementation of an Intellectual Property Culture Remodeling Program;
• Development of a communication platform (information system) in the field of intellectual property between the responsible public authorities;
• Strengthening the geographical indication protection system.

During the meeting, the organization of the 6th meeting of the Steering Committee was approved in June 2018.

The Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights”, funded by the European Union, has a duration of two years and is due to be completed in November 2018.
