Master’s Students from ULIM, Guests at AGEPI: Study Visit Dedicated to Intellectual Property Protection

03/05/2026

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) hosted on March 5, this year, a study visit of students of the master’s program at the Faculty of Law of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM).

The event aimed to familiarize young people with the national system of protection, enforcement and exploitation of intellectual property rights, as well as to highlight their strategic role in economic development and stimulate innovation processes. The master’s students had the opportunity to learn relevant information about the procedures for registration of intellectual property objects, the importance of protecting trademarks, inventions, industrial designs, as well as about the risks associated with non-compliance with copyright and related rights.

The visit is part of the long-standing cooperation between the two institutions, based on the Cooperation Agreement on intellectual property of December 3, 2009. AGEPI, the institution responsible for the implementation of policies in the field, pays special attention to young people and promoting knowledge about the role of intellectual property in the economic, social and cultural development of the country.

The participants in the event were welcomed by Ms. Natalia Mogol, Deputy Director of AGEPI, who emphasized the importance of involving the younger generation in the promotion and enforcement of intellectual property rights. “One of our strategic priorities remains sensitizing young people and increasing their awareness on the essential role of intellectual property in the progress of society. Cooperation with universities such as ULIM directly contributes to the formation of well-trained specialists, capable of applying knowledge in practice,” the AGEPI management said.

During the meeting, Mr. Andrei Moisei, Principal Consultant in the Communication and Training Section of AGEPI, delivered a presentation entitled “General Aspects of Intellectual Property Protection in the Republic of Moldova”. The presentation provided an overview of the national mechanisms for the protection of copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, as well as other intellectual property objects.

Representatives of several specialized subdivisions within AGEPI answered the students’ questions, providing practical details and concrete examples related to the international protection of intellectual property, including aspects of registration abroad, combating counterfeiting and the economic exploitation of intellectual creations.

The Master’s students were also provided with promotional and informative materials, developed by the agency, useful both for academic study and for future professional activity in areas such as commercial law, intellectual property law or specialized consultancy.

This visit represents a concrete example of partnership between academia and state institutions, aimed at contributing to the consolidation of the national intellectual property protection system and the training of new generations of lawyers.
