Today, April 24, in the conference hall of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) started its work the Symposium “AGEPI Readings-2013”.
The fifteenth edition of the Symposium entitled “Current Issues of Intellectual Property” will be held over two days, with the following sessions: recent developments in the field of intellectual property; exploitation of the economic potential of intellectual property; IP - tool to support research and innovative industry; protection of industrial property rights: legal and procedural aspects; current issues of protection of copyright and related rights; recent developments and challenges on enforcement of intellectual property rights.
In her welcoming speech, Svetlana Munteanu, Dr. of Chemistry, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, noted that intellectual property is the cornerstone of progress and major current topic in the contemporary era, helping to solve many current issues.
The guest of honor of this year’s edition, the academician Gheorghe Rusnac, noted the cohesion of the scientific community representatives and specialists in the field of IP, leading to international recognition of indigenous intellectual creativity results.
The start of the first session was given by Roman Chirca, Director General of the Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer, through communication “SME’s Access to Scientific Findings”. The session continued with communications presented by Iurie Badir, Dr. of Economics, Head of the Economics and Finance Division of AGEPI, on “Opportunities of Moldova’s Transition to Innovation Path of Economic Growth”, Iurie Badicu, Director of the Republican Copyright Office, on “Transparency and Fairness in the Management of Royalty. Problems, Prospects and Opportunities for the Republic of Moldova”, and Simon Levitchi, Director of the Trademarks and Industrial Designs Department of AGEPI, on “Trademarks and Free Competition”.
We should note that the work of the current edition of the Symposium is attended by over 70 representatives of academic institutions and universities of the Republic of Moldova, patent attorneys, AGEPI specialists and foreign guests, representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization, State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania, National Centre for Intellectual Property of Belarus, Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property.
The symposium is intended for specialists working in the field of intellectual property protection, representatives of central public administration authorities with responsibilities in the field of IP, institutions and organizations in the science and innovation sphere, patent attorneys and councilors in industrial property, inventors, professors and students of higher education and vocational training institutions of the republic, etc.
