Employees of the Consumer Protection Agency, trained in the Field of Intellectual Property


In the period 11 - 13 May 2016, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized a training and knowledge retraining course for the staff of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) in the field of intellectual property.

The course was organized with the view to develop the necessary skills of CPA employees on enforcement of rights in intellectual property objects, as official examiners of intellectual property violations.

The lessons were conducted both at the headquarters of CPA, as well as of AGEPI. During the course, AGEPI specialists familiarized the participants with theoretical and practical aspects on the national and international normative and legislative framework in the field of protection of industrial property objects, namely trademarks, industrial designs, inventions, geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed, plant varieties, and protection of copyright and related rights. Also, AGEPI specialists spoke about the means of enforcement of intellectual property rights and economic aspects of intellectual property.

The third day of the training course was held at the headquarters of AGEPI and covered presentations of databases and information resources of AGEPI in the field of trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications as well as patents for invention and plant varieties.

Present at the conclusion of the training course, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, Andrei Popa, stressed the importance of collaboration between the two institutions on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

CPA collaborators were satisfied with the information presented by the AGEPI specialists, noting that they will use the knowledge gained in the line of duty and take care to disseminate the information and presentations to their colleagues in the territory.

Finally, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, Andrei Popa, handed graduation certificates to the participants of the training course “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova. Practical Aspects”.
