Congratulatory Message on the Occasion of World Intellectual Property Day

04/26/2021

Dear friends, today, April 26, is marked the World Intellectual Property Day. This day has been celebrated annually since 2000, to pay tribute to the contribution that intellectual property makes to innovation and creativity.

The theme of this year’s World Intellectual Property Day is “Intellectual Property and SMEs: Taking your ideas to market”.

At a time when the imperative for economic recovery is high, World Intellectual Property Day highlights the critical role of SMEs in the economy and how they can use intellectual property rights to build stronger, more competitive and resilient businesses.

SMEs are the backbone of national economies. These small and medium-sized businesses deliver the goods and services we need every day; it creates revolutionary innovations and inspirational creations and generates jobs.

The SME sector in the Republic of Moldova has a key role in the economic and social development of the country. It owns about 98% of the total number of enterprises, provides about 59% of jobs, contributes 39 percent to the total turnover per economy and provides 61% of the total net profit per economy.

The World Intellectual Property Organization invites us all to celebrate the inventiveness and creativity that underlies all SMEs, their courage to do remarkable things and their contribution to improving our daily lives. Support local SMEs and support local innovation.

Dear Colleagues,

I have the special honor, on my own behalf and on behalf of the entire staff of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, to send a congratulatory message to all those working in areas of activity directly or tangentially related to the creation, protection and use of intellectual property. I wish you perseverance, inspiration and new achievements in your professional activity.

Viorel IUSTIN,
