AGEPI was present at the First Autumn School for Judges and Prosecutors on Internet and Human Rights

On 14-17 November, in Vadul lui Voda, was held the first edition of the Autumn School for Judges and Prosecutors – “Human Rights, Fundamental Freedoms and the Internet”, organized by the National Institute of Justice and the Council of Europe.

The event was enrolled in the Joint Program of the European Union and CoE “Strengthening the Respect for Human Rights in the Implementation of Moldova’s Digital Agenda”.

The project aims to increase awareness and respect for human rights, particularly freedom of expression and privacy in the context of information society development in Moldova, and improved application of European legal instruments in the field.

During four days, judges and prosecutors in Moldova became aware of human rights standards and the Internet, the role of the law-governed state in the digital age and the CoE system of human rights protection in the Internet space, privacy, personal data protection, etc., and the best practices for implementing these standards into practice.

The Autumn School, along with CoE/EU experts, was attended by national trainers who, within 8 working sessions, both presented the national and international legislative regulations in the field and organized some group activities and case studies.

The seventh session of the Autumn School program, dedicated to the protection of intellectual property rights, namely: Protection of Copyright and Trademarks, was held on 17 November.

Present at the event, AGEPI specialists, Simion Levitchi, Head of Trademarks and Industrial Design Department and Andrei Moisei, coordinator specialist, Promotion and External Relations Department, presented the national regulatory framework and the jurisprudence in the intellectual property protection field.

The international regulatory framework, in particular the ECHR practice and principles of interpretation of cases in this area, was presented by the CoE/EU expert, Joanna KULESZA.
