The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) of Romania and the Romanian Office for Copyright (ORDA) signed a Cooperation Protocol between AGEPI, OSIM and ORDA regarding the organization and conduct of a Contest in the field of intellectual property for young people.
The protocol was signed by the AGEPI General Director Octavian Apostol, OSIM Director General Adriana Aldescu and ORDA Director General Doru Adrian Paunescu during a trilateral meeting held in Bucharest on 26 May this year.
Octavian Apostol said that, given the good relations of cooperation between the offices established over the years, as well as the efforts made to educate the young generation in the field of intellectual property, the joint organization of this contest will offer pupils from both the Republic of Moldova and Romania, the opportunity to participate in an open competition in the field of intellectual property.
The aim of the contest is to promote the intellectual property system, to raise youth awareness of counterfeiting and piracy phenomena, to develop skills and competitive spirit, to create an environment of communication among young people interested in the field of intellectual property and to encourage the exchange of opinions and experience.
The contest will be attended by ninth-twelfth grade pupils, both from the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The contest will take place in several stages and will cover both question-answer sessions and the elaboration and presentation of individual works by pupils in a manner as interactive as possible, with the topic focused on the field of intellectual property. AGEPI specialists have developed an online application that will support the contest platform and facilitate pupils’ access to information in the field of intellectual property.
The contest is conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova.
The competition will be officially launched next week.
