On March 26, the specialists of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated in the Round Table entitled “Aspects of Copyright and Related Rights in the Digitization of Scientific Heritage. Setting up the Digital Library”, organized by the Republican Technical-Scientific Library (RTSL) of the National Institute of Economic Research.
The purpose of the event was to strengthen the knowledge in the field of copyright in the context of digitization of cultural heritage and development of digital libraries/archives in the Republic of Moldova.
The round table had as target group librarians and specialists in digitization from the specialized and university scientific libraries that create and develop digital resources (electronic libraries, institutional repositories) in open access.
About copyright and the legal framework for libraries, the exceptions and limitations in the field of copyright for libraries, the impact of copyright on digitization practices in libraries and libraries’ activities, as well as about copyright exemptions, copyright protection in the activities of digital libraries, spoke Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division of AGEPI.
Also, Tamara Zasmenco, Deputy Director of RTSL, came up with a presentation on the benefits, problems and solutions of electronic libraries.
Folders, brochures and promotional materials in the field of intellectual property were distributed in the round table.
The event ended with a round of discussions and debates between the participants and the speakers present at the meeting.
