AGEPI participated in the International Forum of Women Inventors, held in the Republic of Korea

In the period 15-19 May 2013, in the city of Seoul, Republic of Korea were unfold the works of three important events: World Summit of Women Leaders in the field of Intellectual Property, International Forum of Women Inventors and the 7th edition of the International Exhibition of Women Inventors, organized by the Korean Women Inventors Association (KWIA) in cooperation with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Moldova was represented by Lilia Bolocan, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, which became honorary member of the Korean Women Inventors Association in May 2013.

The main objective of these events is to raise awareness of the role of use, management and protection of intellectual property by women inventors, entrepreneurs and women who run small and medium enterprises across the world, to become competitive on the market of a knowledge-based economy, and its perception as a tool that would enhance women’s contribution to social, cultural and economic development of the community.

Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, actively participated in these events. Thus, at the invitation of WIPO, Director General presented a report on the importance of the intellectual property system in stimulating the creative business environment and Moldova’s experience in this area, and as a member of the Korean Women Inventors Association, signed the Seoul Declaration – 2014.

According to the main objectives of the Seoul Declaration will be held annually the World Summit of Women Leaders in the field of intellectual property to ensure the cooperation and collection, dissemination and promotion of successful experiences of women leaders in the field of intellectual property, and assistance policy provided by the states to develop and promote the field. Also, the World Association of Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs will develop and disseminate training programs in the field of intellectual property for the development of creative spirit of women worldwide.

In the Forum was also organized the International Exhibition of Women Inventors, attended by over 500 women inventors and entrepreneurs, representatives of small and medium enterprises from over 30 countries, who shared the accumulated experience and promoted new innovations in their fields of activity, and got acquainted with the latest technological trends.

Korean Women Inventors Association (KWIA) activity is supported by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), in order to promote inventions of innovative women in Korea. KWIA Association brings together over 500 women inventors and managers of SMEs in over 30 countries, which aims to share the accumulated information and experience, to acquire new technological trends, as well as to promote their current innovations.

International Forum of Women Inventors in Korea is organized annually in order to strengthen intellectual property development strategies and perform an exchange of best practices and policies implemented by countries in support of women inventors and entrepreneurs in the field of small business.
