The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the launch of the National Report on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the Republic of Moldova for 2024.
This is the 13th edition of the report, published annually since 2012, and reflects the continuous commitment of public authorities to develop an efficient and balanced IPR enforcement system.
The report was developed by the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, with the information support of relevant public authorities, such as: State Agency on Intellectual Property, General Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Customs Service, Prosecutor General’s Office, Agency for Digitalization in Justice and Judicial Administration, State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection, and Competition Council.
The 2024 report presents a synthesis of legislative and institutional developments, measures to combat IPR infringements and public education and awareness-raising initiatives in this area. Among the strengths of the document are detailed analyses of the activities of public authorities, relevant statistics on combating counterfeiting and piracy, as well as examples of good practices in promoting IPR enforcement.
Particular emphasis is placed on international cooperation through projects such as EU4IP, carried out in partnership with Ukraine, and MSIP (the Moldovan-Swiss IP Project), which aim to harmonize national legislation with European standards and strengthen institutional capacities.
The report emphasizes the need for effective cooperation between public authorities, the private sector and international organizations to strengthen a safe and fair business environment in the Republic of Moldova. According to AGEPI, the launch of this report reaffirms the commitment to respect intellectual property rights and to support an economic climate conducive to innovation and competitiveness.
