The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) invites interested parties to attend the launch of the 19th edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2026. The event will take place both online and in-person at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on September 29, 2026.

The GII 2026 analyzes key trends and players in frontier science entrepreneurship at global, regional, and national levels, as well as opportunities for the development and expansion of startups and university spin-offs in fields such as quantum technologies, synthetic biology, and advanced materials.

Additionally, the event will see the launch of the Dealroom-WIPO Deep Science Start-up Tracker, the first global mapping of frontier science startups.

The Global Innovation Index annually assesses the innovation performance of nearly 140 economies, showcasing the strengths and weaknesses of national innovation ecosystems as well as existing data gaps. The GII serves as a vital tool for understanding global innovation trends and supporting data-driven public policy development.
