The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the launch of the Activity Report, which reflects statistical data and relevant information on the actions carried out by AGEPI in 2024.
The Report includes eloquent and conclusive statistical data on the results obtained in 2024, presented in a dynamic format, on each segment of AGEPI’s activity, namely: patenting/registration of IPOs, activity in the legal field, IP promotion and international relations. The Report also contains the institution’s priority actions for 2025.
In 2024, an increase in the number of applications for the grant of IPO protection was observed: 6680 applications, compared to 6358 in 2023. During the same period, applications for extension of IPO protection recorded a significant increase from 4650 in the previous period to 5739 in 2024. It should be noted that the number of applications and related documents submitted through the e-agepi.md service increases from year to year: from 3007 in 2023 to 4256 in 2024.
Beyond statistics, the Report also contains information on the main achievements of 2024, such as: the successful completion of the explanatory and bilateral screening stages related to Chapter 7 “Intellectual Property Law”; the adoption by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of Law No 25/2024 on Trademarks and Law No 107/2024 amending Law No 66/2008 on the Protection of Geographical Indications, Appellations of Origin and Traditional Specialties Guaranteed, ratification by the Republic of Moldova of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (Law No 127/2024) and its entry into force on October 11, 2024; launch and conduct of an information campaign in the field of intellectual property dedicated to pupils under the title “Creativity and The Role of Intellectual Property”, etc.
