AGEPI celebrates World Intellectual Property Day by Informing Teachers and Young People about the Importance of IP in the Field of Music

15.04.2025

On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized information lessons in the field of intellectual property (IP) for teachers, students and pupils from four educational institutions with a musical profile in the municipality of Chisinau. IP and music: Feel the beat of IP is the theme for World Intellectual Property Day in 2025.

The Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, the Republican High School of Music “Ciprian Porumbescu”, the School of Arts “Alexei Stârcea” and the School of Music “Eugen Doga” were the educational institutions that benefited from this information program.

By organizing these information lessons, AGEPI wants to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of IP, respect for and protection of IP rights, including copyright and related rights enjoyed by songwriters, composers, performers, producers and all those who contribute to the creation of music.

Andrei Moisei, Principal Consultant of the Communication and Training Division, provided information on the value of IP objects, especially musical creations, highlighting the work, time and investment required to create them and, at the same time, explained the rights enjoyed by creators, innovators and entrepreneurs in the music industry and the ways in which intellectual property can be protected.

Also, through this event, AGEPI aimed to inspire teachers and young people to get involved in the development of innovation and creativity, to protect their own creations and innovations and to collaborate, thus contributing to the creation of a more prosperous society.

World Intellectual Property Day has been celebrated since 2001, and April 26 marks the day on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (1970) came into force.
