AGEPI and CMAC signed a Cooperation Agreement

05.05.2021

A bilateral meeting was held on 5 May this year at the management level of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and S.E. Center for Applied Metrology and Certification (CMAC). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the interinstitutional cooperation between AGEPI and CMAC and to sign a Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions.

During the meeting, the Director General of AGEPI, Viorel Iustin, briefly presented the latest developments in the field of geographical indications (GI), especially in the normative-legislative field (initiatives to modify/improve the regulatory framework for the protection and control of geographical indications).

The Acting Director of CMAC, Dragos Macari, mentioned the openness of the institution, as a certification body, to expand its certification activity for products with GIs and requested in this regard the support of AGEPI in training its staff in the field of geographical indications.

Thus, AGEPI has shown its readiness to organize training courses in the field of GIs and to provide informative and consultative support on the field of competence of the institution.

Finally, the two officials signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of intellectual property between the State Agency on Intellectual Property and the Center for Applied Metrology and Certification.

Following the signing of this Agreement, the institutions will strengthen their efforts to make effective use of their intellectual and material potential in the process of promoting the national intellectual property system, facilitating access to information of mutual interest and organizing joint actions on topics that are within their competence.

The Parties appreciated the openness of the two institutions to cooperate and agreed on the creation of an interinstitutional working group responsible for the implementation of the Agreement and the implementation of mutually agreed activities.
