On 19 April this year, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), represented by Dr. Lilia BOLOCAN, Director General of AGEPI and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (AESM), represented by the corresponding member of the ASM Grigore BELOSTECINIC, Rector of AESM, concluded a Cooperation Agreement on training and improving the skills of the teaching staff with economic profile in the field of intellectual property.

In the signing of that Agreement have also participated, from the AESM: Mr. Cornel GUTU, Pro-rector of Scientific Activities and External Relations and Mrs. Natalia GALANTON, Head of External Relations Service, and from AGEPI: Mr. Iurie BADIR, Head of Economics and Finance Department, and Mrs. Maria ROJNEVSCHI, Director of Promotion and Publishing Board Department.

In order to achieve the given agreement, the parties will collaborate with the view of promoting intellectual property by involving the most qualified specialists in the field in the process of training and improving the skills of teachers and students of AESM.

Appreciating the benefits of bilateral cooperation in improving the process of training of students and upgrading the teachers’ skills of in the field of intellectual property, the AGEPI and AESM leaders reiterated the necessity to examine the possibility of including in the curriculum several subjects such as: a) introduction to intellectual property, b ) economy of intellectual property, c) intellectual property law; d) technology transfer; e) IP management; f) marketing of new products; g) accounting of intangible assets.

AESM delegation received from AGEPI a set of literature in the field of intellectual property (collections of laws, promotional brochures, etc.) for equipping the AESM library.

It should be mentioned that during the last 2-3 years, AGEPI has signed agreements on teachers’ training and upgrading in the field of intellectual property with another 8 institutions of higher education of the Republic, namely: Technical University of Moldova, State University of Moldova, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemitanu”, State University “A. Russo” from Balti, Academy of Transport, Informatics and Communications, Free International University of Moldova, University of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, State University “B. P. Hajdeu” in Cahul. Under these agreements, there are annually organized various activities (lectures, seminars, round tables) on awareness and training of students and teachers on the role and place of intellectual property in the socio-economic and cultural development of our country.
