AGEPI joined DesignClass Classification Tool developed by EUIPO

As of 30 September 2019, the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) has decided to use the Harmonized Database of Product Indications (HDBPI) included in the DesignClass tool, developed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Concomitantly with AGEPI, the African Regional Industrial Property Organization (ARIPO), the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IIP-BIH), the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti), the State Office of Intellectual Property of the Republic of North Macedonia (SOIP) and the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia (IPORS) have also decided to use this instrument and.

Thus, the first 6 Intellectual Property offices outside the European Union (EU) will use terms from HDBPI, which is one of the expected outcomes of EUIPO’s strategic project “Extension of tools”. This project aims to extend the scope of use of the tools from European Union to Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN) outside the EU, for the benefit of the users.

With the extension of HDBPI to AGEPI, ARIPO, IIP-BIH, Sakpatenti, SOIP and IPORS, DesignClass currently offers users the opportunity to search and translate more than 12.000 harmonized concepts in 27 languages, including Romanian, from 30 Intellectual Property offices.
