Representatives of public institutions and authorities with responsibilities in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, judges and prosecutors of the Republic of Moldova are invited to participate in a regional seminar organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia (LPO), in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The event is already in its sixth edition and will take place in online format on September 14, this year.

The regional seminar aims to consolidate knowledge and achieve an exchange of experiences and good practices in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The event will focus on the European intellectual property case law and court practice with emphasis on trademark and copyright protection. During the seminar, well-known specialists in the field from WIPO, EUIPO, the German Federal Court of Justice, The Hague Court, the Supreme Court of Latvia and the University of Warsaw, will provide information on international and European standards and present the best practices on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The invited experts will share their knowledge on such topics as:

• EUIPO and CJEU case law regarding the Nice classification;
• The impact of trademark reputation in civil and criminal trademark infringement cases;
• Litigation of disputes between collective management organizations and users of works;
• Distinction between free use and illegal copying;
• Liability of an internet service provider for copyright infringement, etc.
