The trilateral meeting at the management level between the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI), the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) and the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA) took place on July 7, 2026, organized in Geneva, on the sidelines of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The meeting provided the three institutions with the opportunity to assess the progress made in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, to exchange views on recent developments in the field of intellectual property and to agree on the main directions of cooperation for the coming period.

During the discussions, the representatives of the three institutions presented the latest developments in the field of intellectual property in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, with a focus on legislative and institutional reforms, harmonization of legislation with European Union standards, digitalization of services and strengthening of institutional capacities. At the same time, an exchange of views took place on the current challenges faced by national intellectual property offices, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in order to identify common solutions.

The parties reviewed the joint activities and projects implemented in the period since the previous trilateral meeting, held in March 2025 in Bucharest.

The meeting ended with the signing of the Action Plan for 2026 on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between OSIM, AGEPI and ORDA, a document that establishes the priority directions of cooperation for the coming period. The Plan provides for the organization of exchanges of experience and good practices in the field of patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, copyright, digitalization of intellectual property services, institutional communication and other areas of common interest. Particular emphasis is given to actions aimed at transposing the European Union acquis in the field of intellectual property, the exchange of experience and good practices regarding the implementation of European legislation, as well as the organization of joint activities to promote the European patent system, in the context of the recent accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Convention on the Grant of European Patents.

The signing of the Action Plan reconfirms the commitment of the three institutions to strengthen trilateral cooperation and to contribute to the development of modern and efficient systems for the protection of intellectual property, for the benefit of innovators, creators and the business environment in the Republic of Moldova and Romania.
