On 11 July 2024, within the framework of the General Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held between 9 and 17 July this year, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), represented by Director General Eugeniu Rusu, and the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO), represented by Director Olena Orliuk, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

This memorandum has as its main objective to establish solid foundations for effective cooperation between AGEPI and UANIPIO, in order to promote and protect intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The areas of cooperation targeted include the exchange of information on legislation, practices and procedures in the field of intellectual property, as well as collaboration in activities to harmonize national legislation with the acquis of the European Union.

The Director General of AGEPI, Eugeniu Rusu, expressed his belief that this memorandum will enhance bilateral cooperation and open up new opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions.

The strengthening of relations between AGEPI and UANIPIO was also facilitated by the European Project “Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine” (EU4IP), funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The project, worth 4 million euros and lasting 4 years, was officially launched on March 25 in Chisinau.
