Innovation Conference “The Role of Innovations in Enhancing the Competitiveness of the National Economy” has begun its work

On 19 November this year, the Innovation Conference “The Role of Innovations in Enhancing the Competitiveness of the National Economy” has opened its work. The event takes place in the period of 19-20 November in the framework of the ISE “Infoinvent” and is organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) and the Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT) under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy.

The conference was opened by the AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan, who welcomed the participants in the event and stressed the importance of themes and topics included in the conference agenda, encouraging the participants to actively engage in debates. In opening the conference with a word of greeting to the participants addressed the Deputy Minister of Economy Dumitru Godoroja, Director General of AITT Roman Chirca and European Patent Office representative David Evans, who noted the role and importance of innovations and new technologies for the economic growth and enhancement of competitiveness of the national economy.

On the first day of the conference the participants heard a series of papers presented by the Deputy Minister of Economy Dumitru Godoroja, Deputy Director General of AGEPI Svetlana Munteanu, Director General of AITT Roman Chirca, Deputy Director General of the Patent Information Center, IP Office of China Liu Yanxin, Executive Director of the E-Government Center of the Republic of Moldova Stela Mocanu and Director of the National Institute for Economic Research of ASM Alexandru Stratan.

Talking about current policies in supporting innovation and technology transfer activities to achieve the development goals of the country, Deputy Minister of Economy Dumitru Godoroja presented to the audience the innovational goals of the Innovation Strategy for 2013-2020 “Innovations for Competitiveness”, approved in September this year by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

In her communication on the role of intellectual property for the development and use of innovations, Deputy Director General of AGEPI Svetlana Munteanu mentioned that one of the specific goals provided in the National IP Strategy until 2020 refers to increasing the role of intellectual property and innovation for economic development of the country.

The conference will be held on November 20 this year starting at 9.00.

The participants will discuss issues related to the development of the service and innovative product market, funding sources and mechanisms to support innovation and technology transfer activities.

Special attention will be given to best business practices and strategies in the field of exploitation of innovations, including with the presentation of success stories of implementation of innovations in medicine, agriculture and food industry, nanotechnologies and alternative energy sources, information technologies and communications.
