On September 7-8, 2006 the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) will organize in Moscow, Russia, the International Conference “The world Patenting System: nowadays situation and prospective of the development”, dedicated the 10-th anniversary of EAPO.

The officials and specialists of World Intellectual Property Organization, European Patent Office, African Regional International Property Organization, national patent offices from the Eurasian region and other countries, the attorneys, well-known specialists in the intellectual property field, representatives of the science and business.

In August 12, 1995 entered in force the Eurasian Patent Convention and this day become the date of foundation of the World Patent system. In the first days of the new created organization there was submitted a little number of the applications – about 120. But a year later their number is trebled. The 1997 was a of year issuing the first Eurasian patents. Owing to the fruitful activity of the EAPO during 10 years the Eurasian patent system was evaluated and world-recognized the fact evidenced by the flux of the Eurasian applications from about 80 countries of the world. The last 5 years the number thereof increased with 1,5 times and in 2005 constituted nearly 2 thousand applications.

In the welcome speech in occasion of the anniversary, A Grigoriev, president of EAPO mentioned: “for the countries of the given region the economical effect obtained from the participation thereof in the Eurasian Patent System is substantial because those countries receive the profit share of fees payment for maintaining the Eurasian patents in force in their territories and the volume thereof rises early”. In 2005 this share constituted 3,6 millions of USA $.

“The Eurasian Patent Office, founded 10 years ago is today enough requested and its standards comply with the most vigorous standards in the intellectual property protection field. There was created a multinational staff of high professional skill, the institution respects traditions and is open for all the new things”, accentuated the president of EAPO.
