The Winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People Were Nominated

On October 25, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), was held the judging of the works for the final stage and the award ceremony of the winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People organized by AGEPI, in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) and the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA).

Present at the event were the participants in the contest, the leadership and specialists of AGEPI, as well as representatives of the partner institutions in the organization of the Contest: Ministry of Education and State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania.

Next, according to the Regulation, 24 participants who have passed the final stage of the Contest have prepared a communication on intellectual property that they have presented in a more interactive way to the Organizing Committee.

After the presentation of the papers, the jury members decided on the winners of the Contest in the field of intellectual property for young people.

Thus, Ana Ursu, a 12th grade pupil at “Lucian Blaga” Theoretical Lyceum in Balti, won the grand prize of the Contest worth 5000 lei. In the final stage, Ana impressed the jury with a video entitled “Why counterfeiting and piracy are considered negative phenomena of society”.

Second ranked Dan-Constantin Varlan, an 11th grade pupil at the National College of Commerce who was awarded the second prize worth 3000 lei. Dan made a presentation under the title “Why are trademarks important in everyday life?”

Third ranked Daniela Gradinaru, a 12th grade pupil at “Mihai Eminescu” College of Soroca, winning a prize worth 2000 lei. Daniela presented to the jury the paper entitled “Why are trademarks important in everyday life?”

With prizes for the winners of the Contest also came the representatives of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania present at the festivity.

All participants of the final stage of the Contest received monetary prizes worth 200 lei, participation diplomas and promotional materials from AGEPI and also partners: Tourism Agency, Rifero and Moldcell.

Finally, AGEPI Deputy Director General, Andrei Popa, thanked the participants for their involvement, appreciating the works presented as very creative and interesting. Encouragement words for participants also addressed the guests present in the hall, wishing them a lot of success.

The Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property was attended by young people from the Republic of Moldova and Romania who are studying in the general, 9th to the 12th grades, vocational, secondary and post-secondary vocational education institutions.

The Contest took place during the period May – September this year, in three stages. In the first stage of the Contest, all 54 participants from 17 districts of the Republic of Moldova who were registered online were admitted. In the second stage, the participants responded to a series of questions in the field of intellectual property, made available by the organizers. In the third stage, 24 participants were admitted, who prepared a communication on intellectual property.

The aim of the Contest was to promote the intellectual property system, to raise awareness of young people on counterfeiting and piracy phenomena, to develop skills and competitive spirit, to create a communication environment among young people interested in intellectual property and to encourage the exchange of opinions and experience.
