The round table “Presentation of the draft of the law on protection of the copyright and related rights in the Republic of Moldova in the light of the best European practice”

Today, on July 4, 2007 in 9.00-13.30 in the conference hall of the Jolly Alon hotel (Maria Cibotari str.37) will take place the round table “Presentation of the draft of the law on protection of the copyright and related rights in the Republic of Moldova in the light of the best European practice”.

This event in which will take part Mihai Ficsor, EU expert in the field of copyright and related rights, president of the Council on Copyright and Related Rights of Hungary, is organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova under the support of TACIS Project “Assistance in the implementation of the APC, WTO and the Action Plan RM-EU in the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy. In the frame of the meeting the European expert will familiarize the participants with the importance of the copyright protection in the light of the best European practice in this field. Moreover, it will be represented for discussions the draft of the law on protection of copyright and related rights in the Republic of Moldova elaborated by the specialists of AGEPI.

At the round table will take part representatives of the Juridical Commission on the right, appointment and immunity of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Juridical Direction of the Superior Council on Science and technological Development of ASM, Agency on Innovation and Technologic Transfer of ASM (AITT), National Agency on the Telecommunications Control, Coordinative Council of Audiovisual, ministries in the field, Custom Service, Association of Administration of the copyright and related rights on the Collective Principles (AsDAC), creation unities, Microsoft Moldova, Unities of the Producers of Phonograms and Videotape Recording, Superior Court of Justice, Appeals Court of Chisinau, institutions and societies rendering services in the field.

Both the Round table and the mission of the European expert enter in the framework of the compliance of the national copyright and related rights protection system with that of the European Union one.

The discussions will be carried out in English and Romanian, at the synchronous translation in both languages.
