On 22 June this year, in Cahul, within the State University ”B.P. Hajdeu” took place the 2nd Cross-border Agricultural Forum Romania – Republic of Moldova entitled “Utilization of Opportunities and Management of Common Vulnerabilities in Agriculture”, attended by producers and representatives of the public central and local authorities on both sides of the Prut.

The forum was organized at the initiative of the Consulate General of Romania in Cahul, in partnership with the Vaslui Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, University “Dunarea de Jos”, Galati and Cahul District Council.

The aim of the current edition of the Forum was to promote and develop cooperation relations between farmers of the two countries, including those imposed after the first edition of the Forum, identify common problems and solutions and mechanisms to attract non-reimbursable funds for various projects.

The event was attended by Mr. Vasile BUMACOV, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova, and Mr. Daniel CONSTANTIN, Minister of Agriculture of Romania, who held a press conference about the state of affairs in agriculture and the reforms in this important area of ​​economy, in which they stressed the importance of strengthening relations between farmers from Moldova and Romania.

In the second part of the Forum, there held its works the Session of the 6 Working Groups specialized in the fields of grain, fruit growing, viticulture, vegetable growing, rehabilitation of degraded areas, livestock and fish breeding.

An Agricultural Exhibition was organized in parallel with the Forum, attended by farmers from both countries, SMEs in the agricultural sector, etc.

The event was attended by a delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, the composition of which included: Andrei Moisei, Director of the Legal Department and Ala Gusan, Director of the Inventions and Plant Varieties Department, who have disseminated information among farmers about the national intellectual property protection system, including the need to protect new plant varieties.
