The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the launch of the Annual Report, which reflects the institution’s multilateral activity during 2017, a special year marked by the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Agency. From the perspective of this historical period, the Agency’s major role and contribution to the development and establishment in the Republic of Moldova of an integral and viable intellectual property protection system, comparable to those existing in the countries with long-standing traditions in the field, is best outlined. Among the most significant achievements are the creation and consolidation of a complex regulatory and institutional framework that encourages intellectual creation and provides adequate protection for its results; training of qualified specialists in the field; integration of the national IP system into the international one; assertion of AGEPI as a reliable partner both at national and international level, etc.
The current edition, presented in a new, dynamic and informative format covers the most important results obtained last year on each segment of AGEPI activity, namely: examination of applications and grant of titles of protection for various industrial property objects (inventions, plant varieties, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications), activity in the field of copyright, in the legal field, in the field of promotion of the national intellectual property system, international cooperation and European integration and internal management.
AGEPI has invested great resources and efforts in promoting the intellectual property system, the priority being to raise the degree of culture, to increase the level of knowledge and to develop the skills of the citizens and the business environment in the field of intellectual property. In this context, we should mention the conduct of the 15th edition of the International Specialized Exhibition “INFOINVENT” and the International Innovation Conference “Intellectual Property - Innovations - Quality of Life”; the organization of the first Contest in the field of intellectual property for young people, the first Course of lyceum teachers initiation into the field of IP, etc.
At the same time, important steps were taken in 2017 to increase decision-making transparency and to facilitate access to the intellectual property protection system.
The report also contains AGEPI’s priority actions for 2018, meant to contribute to the development and enhancement of performance in all areas of competence, and to ensure the continuity of the implementation process of the National Intellectual Property Strategy until 2020.
