The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched in June this year the service “WIPO Gold - universal online reference source in intellectual property field, which offers free, fast and easy access to a vast collection of specialized data and search tools for technologies, trademarks, industrial designs, statistics, WIPO standards, classification systems, laws and treaties in the field of IP.
“Launch of “WIPO Gold” is an important step towards achieving one of WIPO's strategic goals - to become a global reference source for information and analysis in the IP field”, said the Director General of WIPO Francis Gurry. He added that the portal is a valuable information tool, dynamic and constantly evolving, which over time will be extended and improved.
WIPO has committed itself to reduce the deficit of knowledge by globally facilitating the free circulation of information in IP field, by improving the access to it and using these resources. Much of the technical information in patent documents is no longer published elsewhere. Therefore, these documents represent an extremely useful source of information in the contemporary knowledge-based society.
Large databases, such as WIPO PATENTSCOPE® search service, allow free high-quality searches in data on over 1.7 million international patent applications filed under the PCT procedure, as well as data on patents registered in different countries. The “WIPO GOLD” service is even more extensive, consisting of the following sections:
- Technologies
- Trademarks
- Domain names
- Design
- Laws and treaties
- Classifications
WIPO Rules - Statistics
