Monday, May 11, 2015, in Geneva began the work of the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of the New Act of the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration. Moldovan delegation is headed by Ms. Lilia Bolocan, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and the national delegation includes Mr. Victor Moraru, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Mr. Igor Moldovan, First Secretary of the Permanent Representation, and Mrs. Natalia Mogol, Deputy Director, Trademarks, Industrial Designs Department of AGEPI.
In opening the conference, Director General of WIPO, Mr. Francis Gurry, underlined that the current negotiations is the most significant normative development of Organization throughout the year.
Mrs. Lilia Bolocan was appointed as vice chairman of the main Committee, and Mr. Igor Moldovan was elected vice chairman of the Conference.
On the occasion of the diplomatic event, AGEPI organizes in partnership with the Organization for International Geographical Indications Network (OriGIn) an exhibition of traditional products, where are presented local foodstuffs, such as honey, nut and rose jam, dried fruits, sheep cheese and several local wines. The exhibition will be visited by the Diplomatic Conference participants and other interested persons, in the period 11-15 May this year.
