As of December 2, 2019, the Republic of Moldova is part of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Program: e-PCT. Thus, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), as a receiving Office for international patent applications filed through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system, accepts, as of December 2, the electronic filing of PCT applications.
e-PCT is a portal that provides the management of documents filed in accordance with the PCT Treaty, intended for applicants and receiving Offices. As of 2015, the portal is available in 10 languages.
The functions of the e-PCT portal are: filing patent applications; transmitting international application materials to the WIPO International Bureau and to the International PCT Search Authority; viewing international applications filed, as well as processing international applications filed by the receiving Offices.
This service offers the following possibilities: to file international applications in any language; to submit international application post-filing documents; to view the submitted documents; to receive online notifications; to view bibliographic data online and the changes that have taken place; to transmit the international application online to the WIPO IB and to the designated International Search Authority; secure access of applicants to their international applications filed. Also, a PCT international tax reduction of 200 Swiss francs is offered upon filing through this portal, in this sense it is not necessary to install a special program, as in the case of electronical filing of international applications according to the PCT Treaty.
