Moldovan Government adopted today, August 17, in the new redaction Nomenclature of Legal Services in the Field of Protection of Intellectual Property Objects, approved by Government Decision No.774 of 13 August 1997, presented during the meeting of the Executive by the AGEPI Deputy Director General, Mr. Andrei Popa.
The need to amend the Government Decision No. 774 of 13 August 1997 is determined by the adoption and entry into force of the new special laws on intellectual property, as well as the regulations on their application (approved by Government decisions), by which were established new actions of procedure (validation of European patents, registration of geographical indications and appellations of origin), were included new objects of intellectual property (short-term patents for invention, traditional specialties guaranteed), and were also excluded the regulations on utility models.
Important to note is that all the tariffs specified in the draft have legal protection and directly proceed from the provisions of special laws on intellectual property. Their amount remained the same, and in some cases being even proposed the reduction of tariffs.
At the same time, said draft establishes a number of significant reductions for most categories of national applicants. Thus, small and medium-sized enterprises in the sphere of science and innovation, natural persons are given discounts of 50%, 65%, 85% and 95% of the indicated amount of tariffs, and under p. 5 of the Notes to Annex of the draft certain categories of persons are entirely exempted from paying tariffs.
The amendments mentioned above will enteer into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.
