A New Business Incubator was opened in Calarasi

In order to support the development of the small and medium enterprises sector in rural areas, to diversify their fields of activity, a Business Incubator was built with the support of the European Union in Calarasi. The official opening of the Business Incubator took place on 19 June this year.

The official ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Octavian Calmic, representatives of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), Chairman of the Calarasi District Council, central and local public authorities, business environment, public organizations and international projects. Lilia Bolocan, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), was also present at the event.

The Business Incubator in Calarasi will host about 20-26 companies, including production-oriented enterprises. As a result, at least 60 jobs are expected to be created. The incubator will provide logistical, advisory, training and financial support to incubated startups. The institution will support business development so that they can reach a level of stability and autonomy that will enable them to function effectively.

Present at the event, AGEPI specialists distributed information materials in the field of intellectual property to residents of the Business Incubator. Since 2009, with the support of the European Union and the Government of Norway, ODIMM in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and representatives of local public authorities have created the Business Incubator Network throughout the Republic of Moldova, which hosted 289 companies, 144 of which successfully completed the incubation period. At the same time, about 950 jobs were created through Business Incubators.
