Effective Discussions between AGEPI and EUIPO on the International Classification of Industrial Designs

On 16 January, the specialists of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) took part in a videoconference with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

During the videoconference, the EUIPO representatives presented the DesignClass tool, being also discussed the actions to be taken for AGEPI’s adherence to the instrument.

DesignClass is an online tool based on the International Classification of Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification) and is available free of charge online for all users at the following address: http://euipo.europa.eu/designclass/.

It should be noted that the videoconference took place in the context of the implementation of the AGEPI-EUIPO Joint Working Plan, provided under the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation between the two offices.

Since signing this Memorandum, July 2017, AGEPI and EUIPO have decided to extend their intellectual property collaboration to strengthen intellectual property systems and services by organizing joint actions, exchanging experience and implementing joint data integration projects in the field of trademarks and industrial design. The areas of cooperation will include the organization of seminars or workshops, online training courses and participation in the training activities of each Office.
